Job SummaryThe Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR) is a frontline fundraiser responsible for securing
gifts and grants of $100,000 and above from corporations and private foundations. As a key member of Tuskegee University's advancement team, this position works directly with academic and administrative leadership to build long-term relationships with institutional funders and develop proposals that align with university priorities, including capital improvements, scholarships, research initiatives, and workforce development.
This is a remote position with regular travel expected to Tuskegee University and corporate/foundation partner sites.Essential Job Duties- Manage a portfolio of at least 100 institutional prospects capable of giving $100,000 or more
- Develop customized proposals, letters of inquiry, case materials, and reports
- Identify new opportunities for corporate/foundation support through research, networking, and strategic outreach
- Cultivate senior-level relationships with decision-makers at major companies and private foundations
- Work with university leaders, faculty, and finance staff to shape and position key funding opportunities
- Coordinate site visits, recognition, stewardship, and reporting for funders
- Record and manage all activity, relationships, and proposals in the university's CRM system
Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)- Bachelor's degree required (no specific field required)
- Minimum 3 years of successful experience in fundraising, corporate partnerships, grants, sales, or marketing
Physical Demands- Ability to operate standard office equipment
- Ability to walk short distances
- Ability to lift and carry parcels, packages and other items
- Ability to view a computer terminal
Skills and AttributesKnowledge:
- Proficiency in using CRMs and donor databases to track results and manage outreach
Skills:
- Strong communication, collaboration, and project management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); familiarity with fundraising or CRM platforms (e.g. Raiser's Edge) is a plus.
- Strong writing, communication, and editing skills with an ability to produce high-quality materials for internal and external audiences.
- Proven organizational and project management skills, with keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent communication, writing, and relationship-building skills
- Experience managing or working with scholarship system (e.g., AcademicWorks, Blackbaud Award Management, etc.) strongly preferred
Ability:
- Demonstrated ability to design and execute annual giving strategies across multiple channels
