Senior Director of Development, ASU Health Corporate Partnerships The ASU Foundation (ASUF) fosterspartnerships between ASU and like-minded individuals, corporations and foundations who believe in ASU's mission and provide resources forASU to manifest its charter into meaningful impact.
The Senior Director of Development, ASU Health-Corporate Partnerships, is asenior fundraising professional responsible for designing and executing strategies to secure significant philanthropic and corporate supportin alignment with Arizona State University's health-related priorities, including the Biodesign Institute, Edson College of Nursing andHealth Innovation, College of Health Solutions, School of Technology for Public Health and the Shufeldt School of Medicine and MedicalEngineering.
This role will partner closely with academic leadership to build and advance relationships with, corporations,-translating ASU's strengths in research, education, workforce development, and community impact into compelling partnership opportunities.The Senior Director will operate within ASU's Global Corporate Advancement, working closely with the ASU Health team, helping to developintegrated, multi-dimensional partnerships that extend beyond traditional philanthropy.
What you'll do:- Creates and leads a coordinated program of fundraising and engagement activities to increase philanthropic investment inASU's health initiatives, including the School of Medicine and related institutes, centers, and programs
- Manages a personalprospect portfolio with a primary focus on securing gifts at or above $500,000 level and a personal fundraising goal of at least $3M inaccordance with performance metrics
- Develops and executes strategies to engage corporations in support of health-relatedpriorities, including clinical innovation, biomedical research, workforce development, and community health outcomes
- Partnersclosely with deans, faculty, and health leadership to identify, shape, and advance funding opportunities aligned with institutionalpriorities
- Collaborates across ASU Foundation, Knowledge Enterprise, and other university units to develop integratedengagement strategies that may include philanthropy, research collaboration, and broader institutional partnerships
- Guidesthe direction of written proposals, white papers, strategic plans, budgets, and other collateral materials as needed for securingsignificant ($100k+) philanthropic investments
- Manages projects with moderate oversight; depending on area(s) ofresponsibility, may serve as a project manager for some complex, multilayered, university-wide proposals aimed at raising the higher giftsfor a university campaign
- Ensures compliance with prospect management guidelines for tracking and maintenance of contact andprogress reporting
- Manages budget, related to area(s) of assignment, ensuring a maximum return on university investmentswhile controlling expenses
- Within area(s) of responsibility, maintains up to date knowledge on key alumni and high-leveldonors, and/or oversees continuous research, development and up-to-date knowledge on prospects and works with other areas to coordinatecontacts
- May serve as project lead for complex, multi-unit proposals supporting large-scale institutional priorities inhealth and medicine
- Participates, as a member of the ASUF development team and serve as a resource to developmentcolleagues
- Sustains and elevates working relationships with deans, chairs, directors, and faculty members within area(s) ofresponsibility
What you'll need: - Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability tointeract effectively with academic leadership, faculty, prospects, donors, and/or volunteers in a wide range of roles
- Complexproblem-solving skills coupled with the ability to conduct research, gather data, analyze information, and prepare effective, accurate, andtimely reports and other documents to support development objectives
- Strong knowledge and understanding of databasemanagement
- Ability to inquire about and understand organizational interests and needs, and determine how to persuade ormarket to that organization with compelling benefits
- Ability to exercise good judgment, to demonstrate an understanding ofethics related to development activities, and to use discretion in interactions with donors, prospects, volunteers, andothers
- Ability to foster effective working relationships within a team environment
- Community relations skillsand the ability to communicate and work effectively within a diverse community
- Knowledge of fundraising techniques includingproposal development, prospect identification, program planning, fund solicitation, database management, donor tracking, and socialnetworking and marketing tools
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to presenteffectively to small and large groups
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and responsibility regardinginformation related to Foundation and University business and confidential prospect information
- Ability to develop knowledgeof, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures and backgrounds
- Ability to represent the institution welland possess an advocate's belief in the vision of ASU as the New American University
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suiteand comfortable working in donor/prospect computer database systems
- If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department,either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required
Relevantqualifications: - Bachelor's degree
- Seven (7) years of years of successful professional developmentand/or fundraising experience
- Or any equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge,skills and abilities have been achieved
- Documented success in personally implementing sophisticated, multi-year cultivationstrategies that use a relationship-building and moves management approach leading to successful gift closure
- Demonstratedability in securing major grants and gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations, and other private funding sources
Preferred education and experience:- Advanced degree
- Five (5) to seven (7) years of years ofsuccessful professional development and/or fundraising experience in higher education or college athletics for applicableroles
- Experience working in Salesforce and Workday
